Gurus please let me know if there are job prospects for Healthcare Informatics given the economic conditions in USA.
It appears there is a good allocation of 9.2billion dollars for Healthcare IT in the stimulus. Does it provide impetus for this field?
Can an IT company sponsor H1 B for Healthcare Informatics or any of Medical IT fields and if so what would be the occupational code (DOL). What are possible job designation in this field in USA?

Graham: DREAM Act push damaged wider immigration reform effort
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Saturday that the failed Democratic effort to pass the DREAM Act in the lame duck session dealt a blow to future talks on a wider immigration bill.
It was an exercise to try and taint Republicans with Hispanic voters, knowing that the DREAM Act under these circumstances could never pass, Graham told reporters in the Capitol after the bill sputtered on the floor.
What they have done on the DREAM Act is hurt overall comprehensive immigration reform, he said.
The DREAM Act, which would give legal status to illegal immigrants who came to the country at a young age, lived here for at least five years, graduated from high school and attended college or served in the military, fell five votes short of the 60 needed to overcome a GOP-led filibuster 55 to 41.
Graham has worked with Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) in the past to try and seek a Capitol Hill compromise on a wider reform plan -- one that would blend increased enforcement and border security with a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, among other measures.
He said the DREAM Act effort will make it harder to bridge divides on immigration, noting the impassioned advocacy on both sides of the issue.
Our base is all riled up that this is amnesty, so you have taken a debate on immigration, one part of it, you have gotten people emotional before you can sit down and reason your way through a comprehensive bill, Graham said. Doing this vote the way they did it has hurt the ability to do comprehensive reform next year to some extent.
What Graham conveniently forgets is that he gave up on the immigration bill, because it was being taken up before the 2010 elections!

InThemoment is right. I got I-134 from my attorney for 485 filing..
Oldmonk,
That is good information, thanks. Just one question:
- Was the I-134 part of your I-485 application, or was it part of your dependent's?
I am asking this because there is no instruction regarding such an affidavit in the Initial evidence section of the I-485.
Thanks, will appreciate your response.

Can I file AC21 to change my employer to Company B and continue my I485 through to Company B?
You can invoke AC21 after 180 days, talk to your lawyer on how to inform USCIS.

I have no US visa stamped in my passport and planning to fly Emirates to India via Dubai. I will use AP for re-entry. Do I need transit visa at Dubai like London and other European Airports? Response from anyone with experience will be appreciated. If already discussed here, guidance to particular forum will help.
I have traveled by Emirates several times (last year was the recent one) and they did NOT require a transit visa.

I have 2 questions:
While i did apply for my green card i never applied for the EAD since i thought my job was realtively safe. Now if i do get laid off since i am still on H1B what consequences does this have and can i switch to EAD without being illegal?
secondly i was raped a while back while on a trip for work in the us. I still suffer from PTST and other things because of this, is there any help withregard to my legal status?
I know there is some humanitarian things at uscis would those apply to me and can i make use of those?
Thanks!

You need to file a COS from H-4 to H-1B. You cannot work until the H-1B is approved, because you are not in H-1B status now and therefore cannot use H-1B portability rules. You will not be subject to the cap since you have held H-1B status withing the past 6 years, and presumably not used a full 6 years.
Whether your last employer or a new employer files for a new H-1B status for you, it is still a new filing and any prior filings are not relevant, except to show that you are not subject to the cap.
By the way - this might get more comments if posted in the Nonimmigrant Visa section of the forum.

Dear All:
Details: Indian, in H1-B status. Current visa stamp in passport expires in mid July but employer is applying for the extension.
The situation: I want to quit my job late this summer and relocating to Asia. Before I leave this continent, I'd like to travel around South America and maybe even do some volunteer work. I'd love to travel for at least 1 and maybe even 2 months.
Ideally, I would like to re-enter the US after this trip and collect my bags before flying to India.
What are my options for re-entering?
1) Get new H1-B stamp in passport before quitting the job (though this would be kind of a pain/expense). Quit the job, ask the company not to cancel the visa and re-enter the US after the trip on the new H1 stamp. I am guessing this is a somewhat risky option as I would technically be out of status, right?
2) How hard would it be to switch to a tourist visa and get a new stamp in a country like say Argentina or Mexico?
What do you think my best option is or am I out of luck?

A lot of positives for us in this address.
From http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/01/20060131-8.html
Immigration Reform Must Be A Priority. America needs an immigration system that upholds our laws, reflects our values, and serves the interests of our economy. Our nation needs orderly and secure borders. To meet this goal, we must have stronger immigration enforcement and border protection. And we must have a rational, humane guest worker program that rejects amnesty, allows temporary jobs for people who seek them legally, and reduces smuggling and crime at the border.

Also the American Competitiveness Initiative commits $5.9 billion in FY 2007, and more than $136 billion over 10 years, to increase investments in research and development (R&D), strengthen education, and encourage entrepreneurship and innovation. The President's comprehensive strategy to strengthen America's competitiveness includes: Attracting and retaining the best and brightest to enhance entrepreneurship, competitiveness, and job creation in America by supporting comprehensive immigration reform;
Enabling The World's Most Talented Individuals To Put Their Skills To Work For America Will Increase Our Productivity, Improve Our International Competitiveness, And Create Many High-Paying Jobs For Americans. The President supports attracting and retaining the best and the brightest high-skilled workers from around the world by reforming the Nation's immigration system, while maintaining national security priorities. The President's comprehensive plan for immigration reform meets the needs of a growing economy, allows workers to provide for their families while respecting the law, and enhances homeland security by relieving pressure on the borders.

Have a question related to that:
If job / EB2 stipulates Bachelors + 5 years criteria, does it imply 5 years after obtaining the degree or can the experience be cumulative ?
From what I know the 5 yrs are after obtaining the degree. Your job responsibilities should increase in those 5 yrs. That is why when people try to apply under EB2 with Bachelors + 5 years criteria the experience letters play a big role. On the other hand when people substitute the Bachelors + 5 years criteria with MS and a few yrs experience all they need is the degree and a letter from the co-worker that they worked there without having to spell out the job responsibilities.
Having said all this, I might be wrong as I'm not a lawyer.
Cheers
