I've not been into these conferences before now (I saw the keynote from Steve Jobs a) when the new iMacs were anounced, and b) when the new ipods/iphone were anounced) and since then, I've had a huge excitement...plus the fact, I'm in the market for a MBP and an iMac :D
So yeah, I'm more excited about MacWorld

I don't like this. Mass Effect is a story made to be told as a video game, not a movie. It just isn't Mass Effect if you can't make a billion decisions that all have consequences.

They do. That's why we had to send some DV decks back to Sony, as they were often kaputt due to the wrong order of connecting them to the computer.

This does look like iOS4 is turning into Apple's Vista. I've begun noticing odd quirks with my iPhone 4. Frequently, the screen refuses to shift into landscape or portrait mode when I turn it. The only thing that seems to fix the problem is a re-boot of the phone. Reception is still wonky. In the exact same location it will shift from 5 bars of 3G to 1 bar of EDGE, then 1 bar of 3G and then to 3 bars of EDGE. I've had several bizarre syncing problems when either iTunes or iPhoto reported simply, "An error has occurred."
When it works, it's great. But it certainly has been more finicky than my old 3G, which was rock-solid.
I have noticed this as well, a reboot usually helps. It is very annoying though.
Other things I have noticed:
1) The screen tends to take time to come one (once in a while) when the power button is pressed (when in sleep mode).
2) The color on the Calendar's is incorrectly sync'ed from my MacBook Pro.
As of right that is all I have noticed, it is a simple fix through the software. Hopefully it comes along quick.

I have a 17" iMac G4 that I am looking to sell.
The specs are:
17" screen
1.25 ghz
768 meg of ram
80 gig hard drive
Superdrive
FX 5200 video card
OSX Panther edition w/ discs
Apple Pro keyboard, mouse, and speakers
Couple of games as well.
The computer is in excellent condition. I bought in mid September of 2003. I have never sold anything on ebay so I have no supporting seller bona fides. I live in NC and would prefer to sell here and would hand deliver. However, I will ship anywhere in US. I will post pics when I get back home (I am work right now).

I just wish Apple would add DNG 5.4 support. There's native RAW support for the Panasonic micro four thirds cameras with the advanced correction features, so presumably the foundation for DNG 5 (which is different from older DNG versions because of those same features) is in place.
Thing is, since Adobe's DNG converter is free, once Apple adds support for the latest version they get automatic support for pretty much EVERYTHING, since Adobe is pretty on top of adding new cameras to the DNG converter. It is, admittedly, an additional step to convert from native RAW to DNG, but DNG is at least standardized, so I don't need to worry about support for my specific camera down the line. The files are also a little smaller, as a bonus.
Now, why cameras aren't writing DNGs (or some currently non-existent universal RAW format) natively is another question. It's ridiculous that there isn't a standardized solution for this problem already.

Unfortunately there does not seem to be a good way to sync most LG phones with a mac computer. The only thing I have come across is Bit Pim and its reviews are pretty spotty.
Well, I don't know. Is it really that hard to manually do it?

My MacBookPro 2,4 Ghz 15' Santa Rosa doesn't start. Every time I try to start the computer it just says that I need to restart and it goes on and on with the same message.
The monitor has stripes of red/purple over a purple blueish background. And all this happens 2,5 years after buying it. I would like to know if this repair program will be extended to Portugal, when the claim will be won after December 2010.
I do hope so and Apple must be aware of the quality of the parts she is buying for their computers.
It's the second time I have this problem in 4 years with 2 different computers, although the first time the motherboard was replaced within the warranty time.
I can't answer the question on the breadth of this decision. However, I am not going criticize Apple in this instance because they were far from alone. It is very possible that the versions Apple got for testing were just fine.
Overheating of the GPUs caused the problem, and if you weren't stressing the GPU, you might not run into this problem immediately. BIOS updates and Firmware updates went out to downclock the GPUs, but for some it was too late. I supported an office where practically every Dell laptop had to have its motherboard replaced because of the defective GPU. It got to the point where I would call Dell support, and they wouldn't question me at all.
nVidia also couldn't (wouldn't?) identify the specific bad chips, unlike the "exploding" battery issue of a few years ago when that manufacturer KNEW which batch was bad. How could Apple, or any of the other manufacturers, know which machines with these chips were affected? I have an MBP from this time range, and I haven't had any problems, thank goodness. Others have not been so fortunate.
You can criticize Apple for a lot of design decisions, but this issue is firmly nVidia's.

Press release (http://www.smithmicro.com/default.tpl?group=news_full&id1=273&id2=13):Smith Micro Software Inc., a developer and marketer of a wide range of software and services for the wireless market, today announced it has acquired Allume Systems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of International Microcomputer Software Inc.
Allume is a leading provider of compression software solutions that enable state of the art compression, security and archiving of data including JPEG, MPEG and MP3 platforms. The Company's pioneering product suite known as StuffIt has been a de facto industry standard since 1986.I suppose the Aladdin software -- StuffIt, Internet Cleanup, Spring Cleaning, etc. -- will stay the same, but with yet another new owner.

Forget Parallels, VMWARE Fusion is much easier to use and less buggy.
The OP claimed Parallels 7 was already installed in the first post.
marshallbedsaul, read the Parallels documentation or find a guide (http://www.simplehelp.net/2009/02/02/how-to-install-windows-7-in-os-x-using-parallels-desktop-a-complete-walkthrough/). Installing and using Windows within Parallels will be FAR easier that what you were trying to do in your first post.

So some of this could be new stock that's just repacked for a low price? Possible I suppose.
Although I wonder where they've dug up the 3rd gen iPods from. Think they've found a stock room that they thought they'd lost? ;)
I'm sure there is some iPod cemetery where the undead 3rd-gens wait to be sold as refurbished... *BUUUAAHHH*

I have a degree in English from the University of Massachusetts and could provide you with some copy editing service when needed (which you presently need).

Meanwhile, you might want to take the extra "s" out of "sunrises".

If you've never used Cydia or TinyUmbrella to cache her iPad's SHSH files, having the 4.2.1 firmware on-hand will do you no good, as (I believe?) Apple has already stopped signing the 4.2.1 firmware.
If that's the case, you can only restore to 4.3.

don't even go there. :o I went out and bought Bullet Witch & SSX Blur today  That on top of Motorstorm PS3 arriving in the post :D  :D I'm not sure if I'm a gamer or addicted to shopping :D
Depends on how you are actually spending your time, not your money. Gamers mainly game, shoppers mainly shop (or talk shop talk). Others are somewhere in between. If you are actually immersing yourself in the games once they arrive - not just imbibing on their novelty and promises of blissful abandon - then I would say you are a gamer through and through. If after reading this you're still on the fence regarding in which camp you belong, then just ask yourself the next time you have a substantial chunk of free time whether you'd rather be playing a game than reading about it and milking the purchase of vicarious enjoyment of others.
SotN looks great. I also like the idea of a sharper hd version and the attractive border wrapped around the inset game. What would also be cool (er, not exactly, but...) would be ability to toggle between original (100% emulated) music and enhanced soundtrack with high-end DSP (easy on these new consoles).
