hi all,

i will be going to university tomorrow, and shall be living in a hall of residence with other students.

i realise that many student nowadays have wireless capable computers, and i wish to purchase an airport express station to have wireless flexibility in my room. is there any way of putting a password or authentication key on the connection so only i and people that i designate will be able to use it?

any advice much appreciated.

Yea it sucks because this a unwarranted lawsuit and he has to get screwed in leagle fees. Sony knows it and they can care less they want to screw with him. On the other hand the state can provide him a lawyer, or he can represent himself because it is a fairly simple case. The fact that congress made jail breaking leagle, just makes the fact that this case shouldn't of been taken to court. All they should of done is went in front of a judge (like u would do with a parking ticket). It's absurd you would think it would be resolved already?

how could i produce the pdf files?


Like I said: start a new thread elsewhere that's solely to do with the first part of the process, which is to take a text file, parse and process the entries within it with the appropriate delimiters... in order to produce named blank PDFs, perhaps using individual intermediate text files which you can use Automator to batch convert to PDFs.

Once that's done, come back to the Design forum if you need a hand with batch processing those PDFs from within Photoshop.

I have run accros many of these in my area. I always send an email asking to meet somewhere so i can check it out. So far i have always gotten an email back about how they are currently out of the country, but they want to do the transaction via some escrow service. I guess i am hoping someday i might get lucky, but probably will never happen.

I had the 400 iMac DV SE, and I just put in a 500MHz w/ a better grphx card (was on the 500mhz mobo) and it runs like a charm. Just get the mobo off eBay and there ya go! ;)

Did someone see my post regarding the minor developers? This is worthy to note as the main ones are leaving the PPC realm, while literally 1000's of smaller and minor companies, such as wondershare and others are still making universal binaries for both intel and ppc - a win win if you ask me.

Not really. Quite a lot of people depend on the big software developers to get work done. Especially people who need to work with people using Office 2007/2010 for Windows, or who happen to need Adobe CS5/5.5, Final Cut Studio 3 or Logic Pro 9 or a myriad of other Professional Applications just to get stuff done. Many people bring work home, and most of the key productivity software for Mac is now intel only. It doesn't matter about small developers as they don't control the blockbuster software, and most people need at least 1 Intel Mac as they are that much more up-to-date than PowerPC models.

Possible but it would seem odd that apple would update the Mac Pro line twice within 2 weeks. I say this because I would expect the Mac Pro to be the first system to get Blu-Ray. Customers who bought the updated Mac Pros since CES would have an even greater reason to feel shafted than the iPhone people did with the price drop.

From that I get no new information, just more pondering. The last line gives me the impression that the writer does not believe that Apple is going to go toward the x86 platform for OSX.

Anyway, did not Steve say himself that there will be faster versions of the current models next year? and that the G4 still has alot of life? His comments certainly don't point towards x86 in Apple systems, at least not for along time to come.

I think we should let this subject die for awhile (like the Apple PDA rumors) and wait for more tangible proof and/or information concerning the x86/Marklar rumor.

How about someone get a screenshot of "about this mac" with Athlon instead of G4 in it? Or maybe something less easily photoshopped, like a motherboard with Socket A connections and an Apple logo next to it ;).

Lately my stomach has been making funny noises when ever 'marklar' related info is talked about... I guess I'll go to Costco and get some Pepto-Bismol so I can keep reading :D.

I'd give it a 9. The only knock against it being the ability to get in and mod it easily. I come from the PC world where I built my own machines and constantly tweaked and upgraded them over time. I've had my current iMac for 4 years and just ordered another of the new ones. They are incredibly powerful for an all-in-one and it just works. As it turns out I didn't really need to do much modding except for RAM, which is easy. I've had absolutely no problems with my current iMac. Wife is getting that one and my 7 yr old is getting her MacMini.

Because they make more money selling bundles than standalone systems, pretty much. It's just marketing. It's like fast food restaurants making you want the meal deals instead of just the sandwich. They make the most money off the soft drinks and the fries. Same thing applies here. Sucks, but what can you do...

So here's the deal. I have a 15" MacBook Pro that I want to sell. Aesthetically, it looks great, no dings, dents, or noticeable scratches. About 2 months ago, I started getting kernel panics, and it got to the point that I couldn't even boot without a kernel panic. I finally reinstalled OS X. Everything seems to be ok. It's up and running, hard drive is good, haven't had a crash or panic in quite a while. Heck, I typed a research paper on it last night.

After all the panics, I swapped the RAM out, and I think that made a difference.

I'd like to sell the MBP. I'd say it is in good order, not excellent given the issues I've had in the past. I'm willing to knock some off the price. I wanted to disclose this issue because when I sell it, that's final. You know it has had a history of kernel panics that required a complete reinstall of OS X. No returns, and I don't want to be hassled if something goes wrong down the road (I don't think it will).

Specs:
-15" MacBook Pro
-2.16 GHZ Core 2 Duo
-2GB installed (I can install another 2GB, only 3GB will be recognized and used by OS X)
-120GB hard drive
-Comes in the original Apple MacBook Pro box
-OS X Tiger install disk included.
-Video adapter included (the adapter that ships with all MBPs)
-Power cord/brick included


Mac2Sell quoted $1480 (http://www.mac2sell.net/permalink/?id=90bdea90672f5090fdc2f29a0a36a5dc) as the resell value of my machine, but like I said, I'm willing to knock some off because of the issue I went through.

I'm interested in what you guys think concerning the price.
