I do not think, number of employees matter. I work for a desi company and it has just 2 employees. Labor was breeze and 140 got approved in 4 weeks. Never got any RFE. However, I was in EB-3 despite having 4 years bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience.

Hi, I am in exactly the same situation. Would just the I-140 receipt number suffice? My employer also hasn't given me any copies of the I-140 and labor certification copies. My I-140 is approved and it's been more than 180 days since I-485 filing..please advise.

IT'S GOOD TO HAVE IT AS A REFERENCE, ESPECIALLY IF THERE ARE 'REQUEST FOR EVIDENCE' IN THE FUTURE. IN ANY CASE, AFTER 180 DAYS OF 1-485 FILING, AND IF YOUR 1-140 IS ALREADY APPROVED, EVEN IF YOUR EMPLOYER REVOKES THE 1-140 IT DOESN'T IMPACT YOUR ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS APPLICATION.
AS A SIDENOTE - IN ALL LIKELIHOOD YOUR LAWYERS WOULD HAVE INFORMED YOUR EMPLOYER THAT YOU WERE ASKING FOR I-140 RECEIPT, THEREBY SENDING A SIGNAL TO YOUR EMPLOYER THAT YOU MAY BE JUMPING THE SHIP SOON!

Thanks, your reply really helped me understand a few things. First of all, for the money I can spend there isn't much of a choice (meaning what I already picked is fine for the money spent), then, even more important fact I realized is that the equipment I can afford for now, can be a starting point in my photography experience. It is more important that I use it, take photos and practice than to own expensive gear and never really use it. In the end I hope that one day in the future when I gain the needed skill I'll be able to afford a better and a more advanced equipment. So, once again, thanks a lot.

I don’t know how many of our most productive life time is going to be stagnated because of this GC wait.

My employer is horrible to work with. But after hearing horror stories about other consulting companies i decided to stick with known devil... Moreover i did not want to take up permanent job assignment on h1 due to layoff fear...

What if the I 94 is expired and an H1B extension is filed and still waiting for the Approval?
Will that one will also be rejected or by attaching the receipt copy will be good enough?
Expired I-94 is ok, if
it is expired less than 180 days ago. 245(k) covers this.
or
change of status to H1/H4/L1/L2 is pending. In this case, attach copy of the receipt.

It's actually a myth that a longer lens requires a higher aperture. For the same framing, you get the same DOF (Depth Of Field) for the same aperture, whether you use a 600mm telephoto lens or a 4.5mm ultra-fisheye. - Mats
You are technically correct of course, but for practical purposes, if Shannon's primary goal is trying to capture a good depth of field of a child running around, and based on Shannon's comment about the willingness to crop, DOF will be easier to achieve with a wider lens.
Having said that, it was good for you to provide the rest of the story as it may be the basis of decisioning as the skills improve.

my one piece of advice is , dont go to lawyer for canada immigration....
the lawyer becomes a biggest bottleneck in communication with cic ...
its best you directly deal with canadian immigration services (cic)....
if you need help you always have these forums to ask questions...

I am a July 2 filer. I got 485 receipt notice from California Service Center with receipt date of july 2. Today, in mail, I got another notice called transfer notice, which states that my case has been transferred to Nebraska. The receipt date on the transfer notice is Sep 5. Is it nromal to have such diferent receipt dates? Will USCIS process by receipt date on receipt notice or on transfer notice?

My understanding is:
I think in VA you are partially protected against the non compete law.
If contract says it is limited to maximum of 2 years and you can not work for some specific companies, unfortunately non comptete law is valid.
But VA gives a write to earn for your living. If you can proove that if you might not have taken this job, you would not be able to earn. Only you can challenge the non compete law.
Search on google, you might get good reasonable description of non compete law in VA.

This due to increased fee coming to effect after July.
The increased fee went in on July 31, 2007 and as far as I know, no relief in fee was provided to naturalization applicants unlike I-485 applicants till Aug 17. Still many naturalization applications were filed in Aug 2007.
Looks like the I-485 wave swept the naturalization applicants too :)

im on 7th year H1B extn, going for 8th next year
- filed I-485 when current ( have EAD) and got married after retrogession
- for the spouse i had to stay and extend my H1B to make her H4 valid
- at this stage can i change employer on H1B and also for 8th year and further
extns ? has anyone on this situation by any chance .....
any inputs / suggestions will be of great help. thanks in advance
